I think that I paid around $125 for mine new. You can find them used on eBay for around $100. It does cost a little more than the others but not too much more. The best one (imo of course) was the Jacques Meistersinger. I don't recall all that I used but I had a CH-1, CE-3, CE-5, MXR Commande Series, Ibanez Soundtank, Jacques Meistersinger, and a few more of that type. I recently did a shootout among low to medium priced chorus pedals. But I have too many pedals - period! Anyway, this amount enables me to do pedal shootouts, which is fun. Just not super fine! I actually own about 25 chorus pedals. Neither is great although they are no doubt sufficient and sound fine. Boss makes both a CH-1 Super Chorus and a CE-5 Chorus Ensemble. The CH-1 is nothing special either way though, in my opinion anyway. Also, all digital CH-1s will have a dark gray label. If the second letter/first number combination is earlier than P1 it's analog type. To determine version use the serial number. The older CH-1 uses an analog MN3007 BBD. After that they used digital circuitry and surface mounted components. If you wish to buy an analog CH-1 then you want to look for one made before October 2001. And as for the CH-1, the earlier ones were analog but the ones being made today use a digital chip. Ask the dealer or the manufacturer or just check a web page.Īs for your examples, they are both digital. Now, the easiest way to tell if a pedal is analog or digital is to ask. Hello, that's a pretty broad title for your thread! You'd do better to re-title it to "suggest a chorus" or something.
